For our whisky podcast, we’ve selected five iconic single malts from some of the oldest working distilleries in each of Scotland’s whisky regions as our core reference drams. These whiskies represent a combination of history and quality whilst also having a very accessible price point. They’re perfect for sampling if you’re exploring whisky for the first time or looking for a thoughtful gift for a whisky lover.

Speyside: Singleton 12-Year-Old – A rich, fruity, and easy-drinking Speyside malt with a delicate balance of sweetness and spice.
Highlands: Glenmorangie 12-Year-Old – A smooth and floral Highland classic, aged in bourbon casks for a gentle, honeyed finish.
Islay: Bowmore 12-Year-Old – A smoky, maritime dram with a perfect blend of peat, honey, and coastal brininess.
Lowlands: Auchentoshan 12-Year-Old – Elegant and triple-distilled, offering notes of citrus, vanilla, and toasted almonds.
