Highland Park, perched on windswept Orkney, was the first distillery Max ever filmed—and the cinematic memories flood back: Viking legends, stone circles at sunset, and just a hint of movie-set smoke (the legal kind).
Pouring a decidedly not-measured dram, Max explores the nose and palate for listeners. On the nose: heather honey, floral notes, a brush of peat smoke, and a tickle of warehouse earthiness—“like a Middle Eastern bazaar dusted with Highland mist.” On the palate: gentle smokiness, zesty fruit, dried fruit lingering on the finish, with a warm, honeyed hug. It’s not Christmas cake sweet—there’s still a bit of sharpness and Highland backbone. He recommends giving it a splash of water to open up the parade of flavours (and stretch a premium bottle further, perhaps).
